Here are some links to organizations that Erin found that offer grants that may help you offset the cost of a website build:
WEBSITE FUNDING IDEAS
- https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/sports-culture/gambling-fundraising/gaming-grants/documents-forms/guidelines-conditions – Check out Capital Projects, Acquisitions (websites are listed as an eligible expense). Can cover projects starting at $20K which would build you a heck of a website =)
- https://clayoquotbiosphere.org/grants/current-grants – You probably know about these already but I think the Community Development & Vital Grants might apply
- https://tofino.ca/your-government/finance/grants-funding – Council Grants awarded money to Tofino Arts Council for “Digital Support”
- https://www.td.com/ca/en/about-td/ready-commitment/funding/fef-grant – I think you have a good shot at this one, especially if you focus on the educational angle of your website
- https://www.friendlyfuture.com/en/foundation/apply-for-funding – Says it is “given to programs that best demonstrate how using technology can increase the effectiveness of their program to make positive impacts on communities… (by) improving your program’s digital capabilities, such as creating and delivering online learning curriculum”
- https://islandcoastaltrust.ca/apply-for-funding/infrastructure-investment-programs/captial-innovation/starting-your-application-capital-and-innovation-program/ – Perhaps you could tie the project in to “regional economic diversification/education tourism”
- https://www.canadapost-postescanada.ca/cpc/en/our-company/community-foundation/community-foundation-application.page – check our Project Grants
- http://www.padifoundation.org/index.html – these guys have a funny old website but looks like they take applicants from anywhere in the world
- Some Canada govt grants to consider:
- https://www.canada.ca/en/environment-climate-change/services/environmental-funding/programs/habitat-stewardship-species-at-risk/hsp-funding.html
- https://www.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/oceans/funding-financement/management-gestion/index-eng.html
- https://25×25.ca/spark-fund/ & https://engage.gov.bc.ca/bcparksblog/2025/04/30/funding-available-for-community-led-projects-apply-now/ look like they are closed until next year but maybe still something good to know about.
